About us

Wroughton Community Trust is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) which has been established for the benefit of the inhabitants of the Civil Parish of Wroughton in the County of Wiltshire. It is run by a board of trustees from the local community. Initial funding has come as a community benefit donation from Sunsave 42 (Lower Basset Down) Ltd., the owner of the Lower Basset Down solar farm.

Who do we fund?

The Wroughton Community Trust makes grants to support a wide variety of projects and activities that improve the quality of life for people in Wroughton. We fund a broad range of projects including: ecological, health, children and young people, arts and culture, the elderly, people with disabilities and projects providing services to the community.

The Community Trust accepts applications from Not For Profit organisations based or operating in the parish of Wroughton including, but not exclusively, the following: 
  • Local community groups
  • Voluntary Sector organisations
  • Registered Charities
  • Charitable Incorporated Organisations
  • Social Enterprises
  • Sports Clubs
  • Faith groups
  • Individuals (who are seeking funding for a project with a charitable outcome).
Ineligible Groups 
The Community Trust does not accept applications from the following types of organisation: 
  • For-profit companies
  • Political parties or groups affiliated to a political party.

How to apply for a grant

Details of how to apply for a grant can be found in the links below. Grant applications for less than £1500 should be made using the Smaller Grants pack and applications for between £1501 and £4000 should be made using the larger grants section. We do not normally fund grants of over £4000.

The application form should be saved to your computer and can then be completed in Word if Enable Editing is clicked. You may submit the form in either paper or electronic form. Applications are normally assessed quarterly, but urgent requests will be expedited when necessary. Please get in touch to ask about when the next grant assessment date will be.

2024

£2000 to the Discovery Church towards insulating their hall in Markham Road.

£1268 to the Ellendune Hall Trust for their 50th birthday celebration and a memorial bench.

£3511 to Wroughton Church Lower Churchyard Volunteer Group for mowing equipment and a shed.

£4000 to Wroughton Silver Band for musical instruments.


2023

£3860 to SMASH youth group to fund an additional staff member for the rest of the financial year.

£2700 to Friends of Wroughton Library  towards redecorating the library.


2022

£4000 to Wroughton Library for shelving and exhibition stands.

£465 to the 115 Club  to help with restart costs after the COVID shutdown.

2021

£8000 to Wroughton Bowls Club for green repairs.

£1188 to Wroughton Scouts to help fund climbing course.

£4000 to Vision4Wroughton for a shed to store equipment at Willowbrook Gardens.

2020

 £4000 to Wroughton & Wichelstowe Parochial Church Council for essential work to trees in the churchyard.

£1500 to Vision4Wroughton for repairs and maintenance of the wooden airplanes in Willowbrook Gardens.
 
£1200 to Wroughton Scouts for waterproof shelters.

 2019

£598 to the 115 Club to facilitate outdoor activities.

£1500 to Chilton Farm Guides towards a scramble frame for the Guides camp.

£1322 to Wroughton Scouts for a gas boiler and two event shelters for camping expeditions.

£1000 to Wroughton Youth Football Club for pitch marking equipment.

2018

£1500 to Wroughton Scouts to fund camping equipment.

£250 to Wroughton & District Royal British Legion to help enable two members to represent Wroughton at the 1928 Great Pilgrimage re-enactment in Belgium.

£1500 to BMX Wroughton towards building a BMX pump track at Maunsell Way Playing Fields.

£612 to Wroughton Scouts for: seven bows for the Beavers archery activity and a pair of binoculars for the Cubs birdwatching and night sky activities.

£245 to Wiltshire & Berkshire Canal Trust for canal signage at Wichelstowe.

2017

£4000 to Wroughton Trefoil House Management Committee towards a new kitchen and replacement windows for the Guide Hut on the Weir Field.

£274 to Wroughton Youth Adventure Charity to enable the installation of broadband at Legge House.
